Sundays Set The Tone for the Week

Sundays are such an important part of the week for me. It truly sets the tone for the week. I have learned that to have a productive week, Sundays are ideal preparation days. Here are some productive things I do on Sundays.

First, I wake up early (around 5am) to have prayer and devotion time with the Lord. This brings me so much peace and comfort and it allows me to reflect on the past week. What did I trust God in and where did my faith waver? in what areas of my life do I need to give control to God and what and who do I need to pray for this week. It’s also a great time to journal, remind myself of God’s promises, and pray to be used in service to God.

Second, I attend church service on Sundays. I love how corporately we come together and worship the Lord of Lord and King of Kings! It’s a time to take the attention off self and just focus on God. When I hear the sermon, it often feels directed at me and it provides the strategies for overcoming difficulties and it puts things into perspective for me.

Finally, instead of dreading Monday morning, I use this time to look ahead at the week and review the following:

A) Meetings/Appointments: I review my schedule (personal and professional) to determine what meetings I need to attend and how I should/need to prepare.

B) Moments of Joy: I make sure I have scheduled moments of joy. This includes but is not limited to time with family and friends, exercise time and blogging time.

C) Meal Prep: In order to make sure my family eats healthy meals throughout the week, I plan our meals in advance. I’m not good at actually prepping the food but rather I decide what I will pack for lunches and cook for dinner.

D) Education: Even though I don’t do this enough, it is important to focus on an area I want to grow in and select either a book, podcast or YouTube video to expand my knowledge in that area.

Do you prepare for the week? If so, which day do you prepare and how do you prepare?
